The Rest of the Story

I can't believe it's been over two months since I updated.

Oh, hell...yes I can.

My entire life has changed in these two months. I did get my house sold - and got my full asking price for it. I cleared enough to pay cash for a new home here in Memphis. The housing market in Montgomery County, MD is obviously out of whack with the rest of the country. But, I'll take it.

My new place is much smaller than my home in Maryland, but then again...it's a single story and is just about the right size for a retirement home. One guestroom...one bedroom that's an office...and a bedroom for me. Gorgeous master bath. Formal dining. Fireplace. 2-car garage. Patio. And almost NO yard. YEA!!!!

I flew my daughter out to help me move. She drove my car West while I drove the big-ass rental truck with all my worldly goods inside. At this point, I was homeless. I wasn't able to get a new place secured until December 9 - nearly 3 weeks after leaving Maryland. In the meantime, we bunked in with my patient and generous nephew out in the boonies a couple of hours from here.

My things didn't suffer too badly from being moved...then stuffed into storage...then moved again. It all went relatively smoothly, considering the circumstances.

So, now I've got two months left on my severance pay, and it's time to get serious about looking for a job. I hate the thought. UGH! But, it must be done.

So, life goes on. I didn't curl up and die as I often feared I would if separated from my former employer. I escaped the Beltway. And I'm back in the South where people occasionally speak nicely to one another - and almost ALWAYS speak ENGLISH! Praise the Lord!
